MAI Presented Roscosmos an Experimental Program on the ISS

MAI scientists presented Roscosmos an experiment plan, which is planned to be carried out on the Russian segment of the International Space Station (ISS) until 2024. Its purpose is to develop a space debris recycling system and test a new, cheaper and more environmentally friendly way to deliver goods to the surface of the Earth. The experiment is led by a South Korean graduate student of Moscow Aviation Institute, Yoon Sung Wook.

Rugby Star and Space Dreamer from Malaysia

Muhammad Ikhvan from Malaysia is a second-year bachelor’s degree student of the Institute №6 “Aerospace” MAI. But his area of interest lies not only in spacecraft engineering. One of his passions is rugby. After entering MAI, he joined the university international rugby team and soon became a team captain. In June 2019 he was recognized as the best player at the championship final among Moscow universities.

MAI Student Observations Helped Discover a New Island

High school students made a geographical discovery as part of the “World Space Week”, which took place in Cheboksary city (Russia). The tutor of a unique school project was Artyom Makarenko, a first-year student of the Institute No. 6  "Aerospace" MAI. Schoolchildren, with the support of MAI student, studied the melting of glaciers and analyzed satellite images when they discovered the alleged new island.

Cooperation between MAI and Gagarin Research & Test Cosmonaut Training Center (GCTC) in 2019 achieved a “new orbit”: new joint plans on how to train cosmonauts and specialists for space industry starting from bachelor’s program and how to use MAI scientific developments in the interest of the GCTC.

The Transport System of the Future from MAI Graduate

On October 22, at the Open Innovations Forum 2019 in Skolkovo, an agreement was signed on cooperation between two innovative companies: the developer of the automatic sharing system for microtransport Samocat Sharing and the developer of environmentally friendly air-aluminum chemical power supplies AL Technologies, the founder of which is Konstantin Pushkin, a graduate of Moscow Aviation Institute.

From October 5 to 6, in the Spanish city of Valladolid the final stage of the XXVIII Valladolid International Open World Cup in the class of F-2D “Air Fight” was held. Athletes of Moscow Aviation Institute, who participated in the competition, took honorable first places.

Currently, 135 students from African countries are studying at Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University). 65 people from African countries entered MAI in the 2019/2020 academic year, which is more than twice the rate of last year's enrollment - 31 people.

MAI and LAR Technologies Robotized Production of Composites

In the fall of 2019, the specialists of Moscow Aviation Institute together with the industrial partner LAR-Technology (St. Petersburg) developed and manufactured an experimental robotic production line for sheet and shaped products from composite materials with new thermoplastic polymer matrices. The new technology allows to automate the manufacture of sheet, shaped products, as well as three-layer panels.
