March 15, 2024

On March 15, the new educational building of MAI – “Industry of the Future” was opened on Orshanskaya str., 3. Minister of Science and higher education Valery Falkov took part in the event.

MAI Rector Mikhail Pogosyan and PJSC “UAC” Chief Designer – Deputy General Director, Sergey Korotkov, spoke at the opening ceremony.

MAI got a building on Orshanskaya Street as a result of the accession of the Russian State Technological University named after Tsiolkovsky in 2015. The building was at the stage of wall construction, when the process was frozen. With the support of the Ministry of Education and Science of the Russian Federation, capital construction and renovation of the building were carried out.

As Minister noted, Russian President Vladimir Putin set the task to update the infrastructure of the universities.

– Our task is to create all conditions for the implementation of the goals of students. And the opening of a new building is aimed at it as well. Today, young people are able to study here very comfortably. I would like to emphasize that MAI is the flagship university not only in Russia, but also one of the leading technical universities in the world. During the recent years, its development has been gaining momentum, – Valery Falkov said.

The modern scientific and educational spaces of the building will become a platform for advanced research, MAI educational and career guidance programs, including Advanced Engineering School project. Project teams for the development of new technologies will also work here, training programs for industry experts will be implemented, new educational programs will be developed as part of pilot project to improve the higher education system of the Russian Federation.

– Today, the task of Moscow Aviation Institute is to provide students with not only higher education, but also practical skills, to grow teams that will be leaders of changes in the aerospace industry. Of course, this task requires new infrastructure, new environment. I am sure that the “Advanced Engineering Schools” project, which is being implemented in MAI today and will continue to develop mainly at this site, and additional vocational education programs in close cooperation with the industry, which will also be implemented here, will create a new environment to achieve the ambitious goals that we set for ourselves today in aerospace industry and in the economy of our country, – Mikhail Pogosyan noted.

The new building with an area of 13,122 square meters has four floors, where conference rooms, transformable classrooms, scientific laboratories, expositions of educational stands, exhibition halls, meeting rooms and coworking areas are located.

The innovation center "Industry of the Future" will provide scientific, educational and career guidance projects and events for high-quality training of new personnel for the industry.

The ground floor area is reserved for the implementation of scientific projects. There are production workshops and test laboratories for the development of 3D printing technologies, the production of unmanned aerial vehicles and their components within the framework of the strategic project "Aeromobility", which MAI implements as a participant in the Priority 2030 program.

On the third floor of the new building there are spaces for the implementation of comprehensive professional education programs throughout the life cycle of high-tech products, including program and project management, organization and efficiency improvement of mass production, operation and service.
