MAI prepares highly-qualified engineers for the aerospace industry. The following undergraduate and graduate programs are available:

Yes, MAI offers undergraduate and graduate programs both in the English and the Russian medium. The English-medium programs are fully adapted to English-speaking students.

Tuition fees vary depending on the level and language of the program. Current fees are the following:

For undergraduate programs in English 6000 USD per academic year
For undergraduate programs in Russian 4400 USD per academic year
For graduate programs in English 6000 USD per academic year
For graduate programs in Russian 5500 USD per academic year
For Pre-university program (in Russian Medium) 3000 USD for the whole course
For Pre-university program (in English Medium) 3500 USD for the whole course
For PhD program 7000 USD per academic year

You may either make a full payment at once, or pay for the first semester before the beginning of the academic year, and then cover the second semester payment before its start.

Please note that in accordance with the schedule of tuition fee, the applicant shall pay an advance for one academic year upon application to MAI. The advance amount is included in the total amount of tuition fee.
Yes, accommodation at MAI hostel located nearby is provided to international students.
Other expenses to be made upon your arrival include Medical insurance (approx. 150 USD per year).
Students live in two or three people blocks, with personal bathroom for the block. Campus buildings are fully equipped for washing clothes, cooking food, bicycle keeping. Wi-Fi internet access is free. MAI Campus is not far from the university buildings and is located near Planernaya metro station.

To apply to study in Moscow Aviation Institute, applicants must submit the following documents:

For Preparatory Course
  1. Certificate of High School completion (scan)
  2. Passport / ID (scan)
For Bachelor’s programs
  1. Certificate of High School completion with transcript (scan) – applicant must have a score of at least 50 out of 100 for Physics and Mathematics
  2. Passport / ID (scan)
  3. Graduation certificate of a Russian Preparatory School for foreign citizens, if the applicant wishes to study in the Russian medium
For Master’s programs
  1. Bachelor’s Degree Diploma with transcript (scan) – the Bachelor’s program must be relevant to the chosen Master’s program
  2. Passport / ID (scan)
  3. Graduation certificate of a Russian Preparatory School for foreign citizens, if the applicant wishes to study in the Russian medium
When you arrive for your studies at MAI, you must bring the ORIGINALS of the following documents:
  1. Original of Passport (valid at least two years) of a foreign citizen with a notarized translation into Russian.
  2. Original of educational documents (legalized or apostilled) with a notarized translation into Russian.
  3. 10 photos, size 3×4 cm.
  4. Original of HIV and AIDS testing medical certificate and a certificate with medical examinations (tuberculosis, syphilis, hepatitis, narcotism, lepra, Chlamidia lymphogranuloma (venereal), chancroid) and vaccination certificate (against hepatitis, whooping cough, tetanus, mumps, diphtheria, measles, roetheln, tuberculosis).
  5. Original or copy of COVID-19 testing medical certificate (negative, not earlier than 3 days before arrival and placement).
  6. Copies of all pages of your passport.
Yes, you do. You may choose between online and on-campus exams. For undergraduate programs, students take written tests in Mathematics and Physics/IT. For graduate programs, students take written exams in accordance with the chosen program. Exam schedule will be announced on the website.

Yes, we provide visa support to MAI students. After receiving your documents, MAI applies for visa invitation, which usually takes minimum 21 business days to be made. When the visa invitation (in the electronic form) is ready, MAI sends* it to the applicant, and he/she may then apply for student visa.

Please note that you may receive the visa invitation only upon making the prepayment.

To study at English-medium programs, your level must be at least B1. You may provide any certificate confirming your level of English. If you would like to study in the Russian medium, you must have a certificate of the Russian language course completion.
You can enroll in our one-year Preparatory School, where you will study the Russian language, as well as Mathematics and Physics – key subjects necessary for entrance exams and further studies. There are several groups throughout the year.
Graduates will get an additional document upon request – a European Diploma Supplement that allows them to get equivalence of the degree in any countries signed to the Bologna Declaration on the creation of a European Higher Education Area.
