MAI graduate students Dmitry Petelin and Andrey Fedyaev were honored with Heroes of Russia title
On April 12, two cosmonauts, graduate students of MAI Institute No. 6 “Aerospace” Dmitry Petelin and Andrey Fedyaev were awarded the title of Heroes of Russia by presidential decree for their courage and heroism shown during a long flight to the ISS. By the same decree, they were awarded the honorary title of “Pilot-Cosmonaut of the Russian Federation”.
Instructor-test cosmonaut Dmitry Petelin worked on the ISS in 2022-2023. His flight was the longest in the history of the station – he spent 370 days, 21 hours and 22 minutes in Earth orbit, 39 hours in outer space.
Test cosmonaut Andrey Fedyaev completed a 185-day orbital flight in 2023. He went to the ISS as part of the Crew-6 mission. Fedyaev became the second Russian cosmonaut to fly on Crew Dragon, and the third participant in the Roscosmos and NASA cross-flight program.
