Campus life

At Moscow Aviation Institute, we combine studies and science with vibrant and active life outside the classroom. Various events and activities are organized by the University Board together with Student Unions throughout the year.

Knowledge day is a big celebration, which traditionally takes place at the beginning of academic year (on the 1st of September).

Team Building is a series of trainings that is held in order to help students to get acquainted with each other.

Moment of Glory is a creativity competition for the title of the most talented MAI student.

Miss MAI is the title of the main MAI lady. The most deserving, talented, educated and successful girl students compete for this title. Perhaps, this is the very event, which is so nice to see.

Field training and sports student camp are places where students can demostrate their talents band to show which of the faculties is the most athletic, tight-knit and considerate on the ground of sports and tactical games.

Christmas gala festival is n vent where the best and the most outstanding students are awarded at the end of the calendar year.

Cosmonautics Day is always widely celebrated in our University. A stunning celebration of the Russian achievements in space. The celebration takes place on the main stage of MAI Culture Center.

Aerospace Science Week is a set of events aimed at sharing scientific achievements, including interdisciplinary one; involving young people in scientific community, as well as at discussing a wide range of aerospace issues.

Gagarin Readings is a scientific conference organized to help students develop their research skills and to train them, to speak in public. Gagarin Readings is a platform for young scientists where they can discuss scientific research of innovative aerospace technologies.

KVN is a humor contest where student teams compete in comedy improvisations, perform sketches, etc.

Tatyana's Day or Student Day is a holiday for all Russian students.

Sports

Each MAI student has an pportunity to join a sports clubs. There are about 50 clubs (listed below). In total there are about 2 000 people in the sports clubs. The University regularly holds inter-faculty sports days, sports competitions, relay races, etc.

There are more than 60 Olympic, World and Europe Champions among MAI athletes. MAI teams in rowing, basketball, volleyball, handball, rugby, hockey, tourism, as well as individual athletes have been repeatedly becoming Champions of the USSR and Russia, winners of international, Russian and Moscow competitions.

Application to any sport section should be sent to sports@mai.ru with the subject "Application. Name" and the following text in the letter:

  1. Full name
  2. Country
  3. Year of study
  4. Kind of sport
  5. Contact telephone number

Application should be sent in two weeks from the beginning of the semester.

Classes will be available after gathering a group of 7 to 15 people.
