IT-center of MAI organized “Aviation Hackathon 2018”

On November 15, 2018, the International "Aviation Hackathon 2018" was held within the framework of the largest conference in the Eurasian region of Aviation industry, “Wings of the Future 2018”. 

The event was organized by the IT-Center of the Moscow Aviation Institute, as well as by the university’s partners, ATO.events. More than 50 students from MAI, Higher School of Economics and Bauman Moscow State Technical University participated in mixed teams to find solutions for current cases together. Topics suggested by the organizers for the Hackathon are: Implementing gamification in electronic sales channels, determining a safe place for landing a drone, a strategy for interaction between the site and social networks, matchmaking at the airport and aircraft fleet maintenance, and create a tool to track information about launching rockets.

All ten teams properly presented their projects, demonstrating skills in programming and UX/UI design, as well as in knowledge of the aviation field. The expert jury assessed the works and the following teams achieved podium places on the basis of their points summation:

1.       The team of the club "Lambda" MAI.

2.       Team "Fiasco".

3.       Team "Creative comrades".

All participants and, of course, the winners were awarded with memorable gifts from the sponsors and partners of the Hackathon: the companies Aeroflot and ATO.events.

The past Hackathon became not only an excellent platform for students, but also gave them a unique opportunity to meet and get valuable advice from representatives of leading companies in the aviation industry: Airbus, Aeroflot, Brussels Airline, Infomost Consulting, Finnair , FlyDubai, SITA, Boeing, Embraer, Bombardier, Lufthansa Consulting, Apollo Aviation Group, Utair, International Air Transport Association (IATA), airline "NordStar", "NordWind", "Yakutia", "Sibir", "UTair", "AZUR air”,“ Yakutia”, “ALROSA” and many others.
