Substantial Increase
For the past two years, the International Department of MAI has been actively working with Embassies and Ministries of several countries, foreign universities, recruitment agencies and other partners.
“The general interest in a positive result, an individual approach to each applicant - all this has allowed us to double the admission of foreign prospective students, - said Alexey Zarechenskiy, Head of the International Projects of the International Department. – “Among the CIS countries, Kazakhstan stands out, and invariably remains the leader in terms of admissions. The second place this year was confidently taken by Uzbekistan, which showed the maximum increase in the number of students compared with the previous year wh ere Belarus came up with consistently good figures of students getting admitted. Among countries of the far abroad I would like to mention an expression of high interest among students from India, Vietnam, China and Malaysia."
Denis Vysokikh, Deputy Head of International Projects of the International Department, noted the high level of applicants' training, their serious intentions and willingness to study at the leading aerospace university in Russia. This is confirmed by the numbers: in comparison with the previous year, the percentage of students who entered the full-time study has significantly increased.
We go to the East
China became the leader in terms of the number of students admitted. More than 130 applicants from the Celestial Empire became students of MAI. They were interested in the possibility of receiving of a double degree offered by MAI and Chinese partner universities - Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Beihang University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Zhejiang University, Shenyang Aerospace University, Central South University and Harbin Institute of Technology.
The first to join MAI partner program, developed by the Directorate of promising scientific programs, was Shanghai University Jiao Tong, which is included in the hundred best universities according to QS University Rankings. In 2017, together with SJTU the Master’s double degree program for personnel support of the project to create a wide-body twinjet airliner CR929 was launched. Now the main line of development with Chinese partners is joint undergraduate programs. Students are already being recruited for joint Bachelor’s double degree programs partnering with SJTU and Zhejiang University.
MAI has the most ambitious goals and objectives. The university plans from year to year to increase the number of international students and expand the geography of international cooperation, which will help to accomplish the task of increasing the attractiveness and competitiveness of Russian education in the international educational services market within the framework of the Export Education project, in which the university is a participant.
