MAI drones at the Drone Racing World Cup - 2018
From September 14 to 16, 2018 in South Korea, was held the Drone Racing World Cup with the participation of the Russian delegation. Among the Russians, who went to Korea, was Head of MAI School of Drones Cyril Shchukin. All the drones that were used by the Russian team at the competitions were created on the basis of Moscow Aviation Institute: by the Department №602, Research Department №101 and MAI School of Drones.
Russia was represented at the Drone Racing World Cup by the top 3 domestic pilots: Platon Maximov, Vladimir Ivanov and Artem Ignatov. Also at championship were represented athletes from Europe, USA, Canada, Australia, China, Dominican Republic, Colombia, Mexico and Thailand.
“Russian pilots entered the top four with the best lap time, which was the reason for the joy of the whole Russian community. From the best athletes, we fell behind for a split second. Based on the results of the participation, it was possible to discover many new tactics and techniques that are necessary at races of this level, the secrets of management mastery and invaluable experience in training drones! As a result of the competition, the Russians entered the semifinal of the World Cup and took the honorable 4th place. We will happily return to South Korea next year and hopefully show progress in our skills!” - said Cyril Shchukin.
