Hydroaviasalon - 2018: a rich and diverse program of MAI
From 6 to 9 September in Gelendzhik was held 12th international exhibition and scientific conference on hydroaviation “Hydroaviasalon – 2018”. Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) presented there a system for installing of float chassis for a hydroversion of L-410 aircraft, as well as its own drones, a small-size air-jet engine and a number of IT projects.
In addition, representatives of the university took an active part in the business program of the forum.
The unique modification of the aircraft L-410
The center of visitors’ attention to the static exposition of Hydroaviasalon was L-410UVP-E20 aircraft, mounted on the float chassis. As part of the work on the airplane's hydroversion of L-410. The Design Bureau of Moscow Aviation Institute (OSKBES MAI) has developed a system for installing floats, manufactured floats and an attachment system.
The device was highly appreciated by the Minister of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Denis Manturov, who visited Hydroaviasalon. Denis Manturov instructed his colleagues to further development of the modification, implemented by MAI specialists.
Chief Designer of OSKBES MAI Vadim Demin took part in the work of the section "Scientific foundations for the creation of amphibious and non-aerodrome aircraft. Aerohydrodynamics, seaworthiness, flotation, design. In his report “Special aspects of hydroversions’ creation of small land based aircraft” Vadim Demin comprehensively highlighted the issues of creating hydrovariants of aircraft intended for operation from conventional airfields.
Also within the framework of the Business Program, MAI jointly with Department of Aviation Industry held a round table in Gelendzhik on training and retraining of personnel for aviation industry organizations during the period of digital transformation.

Also at the “Hydroaviasalon – 2018”, United Aircraft Corporation presented the stand "Future of Aviation", within the framework of which were presented two projects, implemented jointly with MAI. Children presented their projects, realized on educational programs and profile MAI shifts of the educational center “Sirius” and international children center “Artek”.
The schoolchildren's team told about their MAI projects “Swarm of Drones" and "Smart Product" to Minister of Industry and Trade, who highly appreciated the work done and wished success to children in the chosen field.
Display exposition of MAI on Hydroaviasalon-2018
MAI developments in the field of drones and virtual reality have aroused a keen interest of both adult and young guests of the forum. MAI presented at the exhibition a Hexacopter with centerline bearing screws of an anisigrid design. This drone can land on the water and keep on it, as it was created and assembled according to the "float" scheme. The device can take off not only from the ship, but also from the surface of the water.
The stand of MAI was visited by the Head of department and Deputy Minister of the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation Oleg Bocharov. Representatives of the Ministry of Industry and Trade got acquainted with MAI development and instructed to consider the possibility of using the device to save sinking people.
