MAI Offered to Send Satellites for Testing of Curing Materials
Specialists of Moscow Aviation Institute offered to launch special small satellites for testing of curing materials’ frameless constructions. It could after be used in the construction of space station modules.
“The creation of a small spacecraft with a model of an inflatable shell is the essence of our proposal. And we must pay attention to the fact that we are ready to develop several proposals for different technological and financial opportunities”, - said Vadim Kakurin, the representative of MAI Research Center “Aerotechnics”, at the round table of the International Association of Space Activities Participants (IASP).
According to Vadim Kakurin, now we can talk about the possible launch of ultra-small devices that could "take with them" only a small piece of material and confirm its properties in outer space, and rather large satellites.
"It can be a small spacecraft, weighing 80 kilograms – and this is a significant object," - added Vadim Kakurin.
As Dmitry Khmel, the leading designer of the system design department of Lavochkin Research and Production Association, told that the technologies of curing materials has already been applied, but mainly in construction. For example, in this way it is convenient to obtain large dome structures. "Adapting them to the conditions of space will significantly increase all the parameters, and especially the volume. This design allows to avoid the inner frame, " - said Dmitry Khmel.
