Results of the International Student Marathon for MAI Rector's Cup
On June 9 was held the International Student Marathon Award Ceremony for the Rector's Cup of MAI. The International Student Marathon lasted from October 2017 to May 2018 and included sports competitions and creative contests.
Every year, Moscow Aviation Institute organizes competitions for international students in various disciplines. Teams are formed by country, and students from different parts of the world actively take part in such events: they compete for the championship in football and rugby, show their skills in chess, uncover the creative capacities on stage, participate in inter-university beauty contests. During the academic year the international students win points and try to receive the main prize - Rector's Cup. Since 2017, the status of individual competitions for international students of MAI has increased: the events were combined into a centralized International Student Marathon for the MAI Rector's Cup.
The results of the International Student Marathon for Rector's Cup of 2017-2018 academic year are:
- 1st place and Rector's Cup - students from Malaysia with a score of 141 points
- 2nd place - students from Myanmar with a score of 111 points
- 3rd place - students from Vietnam with a score of 103 points and students from Egypt with a score of 101 points
- 4th place - students from India with a score of 56 points
Diplomas and gifts for the active participation in the student life of MAI were awarded the following international students:Arinze Chkus Achanotu(Nigeria), Radzvan Siafiq Bin Ramle(Malaysia), Calangula Peter Kalonda(Congo), Mohamad Fakhri Bin Arif(Malaysia), Stephen Desmond(Nigeria), Osidy Olakanmi Abiola(Nigeria), Adesulu Oluwashi Aiomide(Nigeria), Perumal Gopinath( India), Hassan Abdelkha Shabub Mohamed(Egypt), E Htut Khaung (Myanmar) and Kaung Myat Tu(Myanmar).
After the awards ceremony, the students received sweet gifts and discussed plans for the next academic year with Olga Popkova, the director of the International Student Cultural Center (ISCC) of MAI. For example, students noted that they would like to take active part in general cultural events, inter-university sports competitions and creative contests. It was decided that the groups of international students would be divided not by country, but by directions. Each direction of interest would have its own responsible representative. If there is an initiative from students to create a new direction of interest, for example in the field of cooking, they turn to representatives of ISIC of MAI, who help them in the implementation of the planned competition.
"All participants were happy and satisfied. In the future, we plan to hold the International Student Marathon for MAI Rector's Cup annually in order to increase the activity of international students in cultural and sports events. Thus, they will be able to realize their talents, make contacts and better adapt to the environment, "- said Olga Popkova.
International students and the International Student Cultural Center (ISCC) of MAI have big and bright plans for the future. We wish them implementation of all plans and new victories at the next International Student Marathon for MAI Rector's Cup, which starts in October 2018.
