Aeromodelling World Cup stage: MAI in the lead
First Russian stage of Aeromodelling World Cup in the ‘Aerial fight’ models class took place from April 28 to May 1, 2018, in the town of Aleksin, Tula region. This competition has become a tradition that unites a large number of participants from different countries of the world and regions of Russia. This year, 87 crews of athletes from 6 countries and 16 Russian regions took part in the competition.
Among the participants was the MAI team – one of the favorites of the competition. 15 MAI crews were divided into 5 teams (in threes, according to the regulation). There was a separate ranking for young people born before the year 2000 (16 crews).
MAI was putting its hopes on the young athletes from the Center for Aeromodelling Creativity of Students, and those expectations were fully satisfied – they occupied the whole junior podium. 1st place – Dmitry Kondratov, 2nd place – Gleb Krechun, 3rd place – Artem Zaytsev.
The crews of candidate masters of sports, which consisted of Dmitry Kondratov and Ramil Gareev, having scored six victories over much more eminent contenders, took third place at this stage of the World Cup. The guys missed only the winners of the tournament, masters of sports of international class - Alexander Shalaev and Yuriy Moiseev (Tula region), and masters of sports of international class – Dmitry Dushenko and Konstantin Petrushenkov (Moscow), who took second place.
In the team event, our young pilots, Dmitry Kondratov, Artem Zaytsev, Ramil Gareev, took first place, beating the teams from Moscow and the Tula region.
We are confident that when these athletes become Moscow Aviation Institute students, they will carry forward the proud traditions of our club and, perhaps, the whole team of Russia will consist of our guys, as it used to in the past.
