Planes replace trains. Is it possible or not — MAI scientist comments
The Head of the department "Theory of Air Breathing Motors" of Moscow Aviation Institute Alexey Agulnik shared his thoughts with Indicator.Ru about air transport displacing railway one in Russia. "All vehicles are different. It is important to not only the distance, but also the regions through which the route passes. There are advantages of railway and aviation transport. It is necessary to decide in each case what kind of transport is the best", — said Agulnik. — "We are working on a variety of areas but I suspect railwaymen do the same."
According to his words it is impossible to predict what will happen next. Some developments can change the habitual way. For example a well-known entrepreneur Elon Musk creates a fundamentally new transport. His team of experts designs overhead vacuum line Hyperloop. Special capsule with passengers will travel at a speed of about 1,200 km/h. According to the original idea the new route will connect Los Angeles and San Francisco. The travel time between the two metropolitans (600 km) Hyperloop will take 35 minutes. "Perhaps, vacuum tubes will be the most correct form of transport", — said Agulnik.
