Summer school for Northwestern Polytechnical University students launched at MAI
The Design of Aircraft Structures program, developed by Department 101: Design and Certification of Aviation Technology, has been hosted at MAI since 2023. NPU students are regular participants.
As part of the summer school, the future aviation engineers will learn approaches to structural design using the example of a wingbox, master various design tools and techniques in specialized software, and get acquainted with the full cycle of developing aircraft products made of metals and polymer composite materials. During extracurricular hours, students will go on a trip to Red Square and visit the Museum of Aviation and Cosmonautics, among other things.
Moscow Aviation Institute and Northwestern Polytechnic University have been cooperating for more than 26 years. In 2025, a joint school was established at NPU, enrolling 204 Chinese students in its first year. The training takes place in four advanced undergraduate areas: Aircraft Engineering, Spacecraft Engineering, Control Systems & Computer Science in Engineering, and Systems Analysis and Control. The courses are conducted in Russian and Chinese, with graduates slated to receive diplomas from both universities.
