The first Russian Summer School for students from the UAE ended in MAI
Moscow Aviation Institute hosted the closing ceremony of the first Summer School for students from the UAE, that was conducted in Russia. The graduates received their certificates and memorable gifts. Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of MAI, and Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jaber, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates in Moscow, congratulated the participants.
The students of the joint program of MAI and Khalifa University in the specialty "Aircraft Engineering" were trained during the course. The aim of the program is to provide the comprehensive engineering education for the experts from the United Arab Emirates, and it has been implemented since September 2023 and is carried out in the 3+1 format: students study at Khalifa University for the first three years, and the fourth year they spend in MAI. Upon graduation the students receive diplomas of both universities.
During the Summer School, students studied methods of design and technology of manufacturing structures made of composite materials. They created a multilayer panel with their own hands and studied its mechanical properties, mastered modern CAD modeling tools, and also conducted a number of strength tests. At the end of the intensive, each participant created a wing caisson project and tested it in a virtual environment.
In addition, a cultural program was organized for the participants of the Summer School, there were excursions around Moscow and workshops so that the participants could get acquainted with Russian traditions.
As the UAE Ambassador Mohammed Ahmed Al-Jaber noted, all students are satisfied with the program and are now looking forward to their fourth year to return to MAI. It was also proposed to include the Russian language module into the structure of the educational program for more effective adaptation of foreign students while they study here, in Moscow.
– Let me express my sincere gratitude to the Executive Board of MAI and, in particular, to Mikhail Aslanovich Pogosyan, Rector of the University, for our cooperation within the framework of the Summer School. I would like to thank you for your attitude and desire to create something new together. I hope we will continue to work on various joint programs. Not only Khalifa University is interested in cooperation with MAI, but also other universities of the UAE are willing to take part in joint programs as well, – said Mohammed Ahmed al-Jaber.
Summing up the results of the first Summer School in Russia for students from the UAE, Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of MAI, noted that this experiment showed excellent result.
– Two weeks of your Moscow trip were interesting and full of various events. I would like to thank you for your active participation and I hope that this program inspired you to gain new knowledge. Also, as the result of this program, we are now full of new ideas for your next acquaintance with MAI and the aerospace industry," Mikhail Pogosyan added, addressing the international students.
