MAI and SPbPU Winter School for Chinese students is over
On the 2nd of February, the winter school for students from Northwestern Polytechnic University (China), organized by Moscow Aviation Institute and Peter the Great St. Petersburg Polytechnic University, ended. Students started their training on polymer composite materials and additive technologies on the 24th of January at MAI, and from 29th of January they continued the course at the Polytechnic University.
Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of MAI, noted earlier that the Winter School program covered areas that will determine the competitiveness of the Russian and Chinese aviation industries on the global market. In particular, during the course, students learned about the production methods and characteristics of powder materials and examined various additive manufacturing technologies.
– I have gained fundamental knowledge, for example, on the classification of materials, determination of their advantages and disadvantages, application options and prospects. During the course, we not only felt the impressive knowledge base of the professors, but also imbued with their humor and cheer. This allowed us to make our classes both serious and lively, – said Cao Minyan, the participant in the Winter School.
Students from China also enjoyed profound cultural program. They visited the Red Square, the Cosmonautics and Aviation Center in the capital of Russia, the Hermitage and the Erarta Museum of Modern Art in St. Petersburg.
MAI plans to develop cooperation with NWPU further and open a joint institute. Students will study in four bachelor's degree programs in aircraft engineering, rocket complexes and astronautics, system analysis and management, management of technical systems, and after graduation they will receive diplomas from both universities.
