Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of MAI: "The key task of education is to form prospective competencies"
On July 11, at the Innoprom-2023 (Ekaterinburg), "Criteria for the effectiveness of education. The employers' view" panel discussion was held.
The event was moderated by Valery Falkov, Minister of Science and Higher Education, with the participation of Andrey Fursenko, Assistant of the President of the Russian Federation. Representatives of employers and Rectors of leading Russian universities participated in the discussion. Mikhail Pogosyan, Rector of MAI, was one of the speakers.
The participants formulated the requirements towards the education system from the side of the industry and discussed how to transform the system in order to meet these requirements, the pilot project of the transition to a new system of higher education also was on the agenda.
– The key task of education is to develop promising competencies, including those in the field of digital design, so that graduates would become leaders of changes and the introduction of new technologies in the industry, – said Mikhail Pogosyan.
Moscow Aviation Institute is one of six universities participating in the project to change the levels of education in Russia. The project provides for three levels of education: basic higher, specialized higher and professional – postgraduate studies. The basic period of study at MAI will last from 4 to 6 years. Obtaining specialized higher education will take from a year to 3 years.
The International Industrial Exhibition "Innoprom-2023" is held in Ekaterinburg from July 10 to 13. This year the exhibition brought together participants from 60 regions of Russia and 35 countries. In total, about 700 companies are represented – a record number for the entire duration of the event.
