“MAI take-off” at Alferyevo airfield

“MAI take-off” youth scientific and technical festival took place at the Alferyevo training base in the Moscow region. It brought professionals together: aviation enthusiasts launched models of rockets and airplanes, the aerobatic team demonstrated aerial maneuvers, and parachutists showed their courage and dexterity when landing.

The opening was attended by the founder of Vostok-Service Group, ombudsman under the Governor of the Moscow Region, Vladimir Golovnev, Head of the administration of the Volokolamsk City District Mikhail Sylka, cosmonaut, Hero of Russia Mikhail Kornienko, Director General of TsAGI, Corresponding member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kirill Sypalo, Vice-Rector for Academic Affairs of Moscow Aviation Institute Dmitry Kozorez, Guards Colonel, Honored Military Sniper Pilot of the Russian Federation Sergey Osyaykin and Vice-President of the MAI Alumni Club Sergey Yelsukov.

The speakers noted the uniqueness of the “MAI take-off” and agreed that the festival should once again become an annual event.

“For eight long years we dreamed of reviving this festival. And here we are in Alferyevo, where the road to the sky began for almost all Chief Designers,” Kirill Sypalo, General Director of TsAGI, mentioned in his speech.

“It's nice to be here today, at MAI Aero Club. Our country is proud of its great aviation past, and thanks to Moscow Aviation Institute, I am sure, it has great future,” added Sergey Osyaykin, Honored Military Sniper Pilot of the Russian Federation.

The festival was attended by more than one and a half thousand people. The program attracted students and schoolchildren, students of cadet corps and IT schools - everyone who has been in love with aviation from an early age and dreams of making it their future profession.

The flight program included the performance of aerobatics on the Yak-52, aerobatics on the aircraft of the design bureau of Moscow Aviation Institute Aviatika-MAI-890 and glider, the passage of a pair on the An-2 with the release of parachutists. MAI Rocket Modeling Cup and the awarding of the best athletes were also held at the site.

The concert of rock groups of DKiT MAI and sports competitions were organized at the festival. Scientific and technical exhibition was also held here, where everyone could learn about the structure of rocket and aircraft engines, create their own souvenir using a 3D pen, try out a flight simulator and get information about enrollment to Moscow Aviation Institute.
