MAI will present its advanced UAVs at HeliRussia

On May 18-20, the Crocus Expo will host the HeliRussia international helicopter industry exhibition. Moscow Aviation Institute will take part in the business and exhibition program, it will present its promising developments in the area of unmanned systems. The organizer of the exhibition is the Ministry of Industry and Trade of the Russian Federation.

Three unmanned aerial vehicles will be represented at MAI stand this year. One of them is a "Flaw detector" designed for internal inspection of industrial premises, checking the condition of equipment and devices. The peculiarity of the development is in the fact that data processing by an on-board computer and embedded software occurs via neural networks. The system is able to register leaks, vapours, temperature rise and other deviations in the operation of equipment, as well as promptly transmit data to the operator and make a decision on changing the operating mode, replacing or repairing equipment.

MAI residents will also show an unmanned aviation system for automatic inspection of agricultural fields "AeroScout". The device evaluates the condition of the land using artificial intelligence based on photographic images. The built-in system independently compiles the route and flight plan, depending on the required quality of the result on a particular site. The device is equipped with sensors to prevent collisions with obstacles.

In addition, the unmanned aviation system “Agrodron” for high-precision spraying of plant protection products (pesticides, herbicides, insecticides and fungicides), organic fertilizers, baits, growth hormones and other liquid products, will be demonstrated at the stand. Secondary use -aero planting. The uniqueness of the device lies in a special software for building a flight route, taking into account the size of the treated area. “Agrodron” enables continuous processing through the use of several drones as part of the system, as well as the ability to remotely monitor and control the processing progress.

In addition to unmanned aerial vehicles, MAI will present the developments of the research department 307 “Information Systems and Technologies” at HeliRussia: a mock-up of a vibration stand for testing helicopter fuel tanks and a robotic control section.

The first development allows to control vibration parameters: dynamically change the amplitude, frequency and direction. The system is based on the asynchronous motor controller. A distinctive feature of the vibration stand is scalability, high efficiency and a high degree of unification.

The robotic control section consists of an industrial robot developed in MAI, a bursting machine and an optical control system. The system can be used for automated control and/or testing, including as part of automatic production lines.

MAI Competence Center “Energy Systems” has prepared an interactive composition “Production of the Future” for the exhibition, which will demonstrate VR simulators, AR assistants and VR demonstrators.
