MAI arena football team became the champion of the Moscow Student Sports Games

On April 6, 2023, the team of Moscow Aviation Institute became the winner of the XXXV Moscow Student Sports Games in arena football among the teams of the Major League. With a devastating score of 13:3, MAI team took over the team of the Russian University of Transport at their home ground in the “Tsareva” sports complex.

The MAI team has many times been the silver and bronze medalist of the MSSG, but this is the first time the champion title is obtained! To date, the MAI team is the strongest student team in Moscow.

– Yesterday we were fine with a draw, and with a certain result of the parallel game between Moscow State University and Moscow State Pedagogical University, even a defeat might not have prevented us from becoming champions. But the guys tuned in to this game and left no chance either to yesterday's rivals or to those who followed on the heels, – says coach Sergey Isaev.

The success of a team is determined by two factors. First, these are masters of their craft – coaches Sergey Isaev, Sergey Manykin, Petr Ivashentsev. And second, the fusion of experience and youth in a team consisting of first-year students and graduates of this year.

The championship was held from November 2022 to April 2023. According to the coaches, the games of the final stage were decisive. With Russian State Agrarian University (3:3), where they equalized in the last minute and did not score into an empty net 20 seconds before the end of the game. Incredible in intensity and mood was the victory of the game with the Moscow State Pedagogical University (5:1), when the whole hall was for the opponents. As well as a home victory over last year's champions, the Moscow State University team (2:1).
