The MAI-MBA team won bronze at the international basketball game in Minsk
Medals of the IVth International 3×3 Basketball Game "Palova-Snowball" were played in Minsk. 8 male teams from Belarus and Russia performed at the competition, including the team of Moscow Aviation Institute and the Moscow Basketball Association (MBA).
During the first group stage the basketball players met in qualifying matches, where they competed for tickets to the playoffs. In the second stage the best teams were chosen basing on the results of the quarterfinals, semifinals and finals.
Artem Mukhtarov, Egor Yushkov, Nikita Vavilov, Maxim Kurganov played in the MAI-MBA. Viktor Pavlenko is the coach of the team.
In the group stage, Muscovites defeated Guns N Balls team with a score of 22:13, Soft3×3 – 21:17, but lost to Minsk – 3:22.
In the quarterfinals, the MAI-MBA team won in overtime against Belarus with a score of 18:16. However, in the semifinals they lost to Baikal – 9:21. The Moscow team played the match for third place without Nikita Vavilov, who was injured in the previous game. Despite this, the MAI-MBA team managed to win over the Belarusian Ostrovets team in a tense struggle – 21:19.
The bronze medals became the first for MAI-MBA, and the game turned out to be a successful start of the international competitions.
