Aerospace Science Week: experts discussed technological aerospace challenges
On November 22 at Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) the business program of the IX International Aerospace Technology Week Aerospace Science Week was launched. During the week, heads of leading enterprises, experts from ministries and business communities and scientists and young engineers discussed challenges and prospects of high technologies at MAI site.
The program was opened by a plenary session, which was attended by the Rector of MAI Mikhail Pogosyan, General Director of "TsAGI" Kirill Sypalo, Executive Director for Strategic Planning - Director of the Department of the State Corporation "Roscosmos" Yury Makarov, Director of the direction – Head of the scientific complex "Artificial Intelligence and technical Vision" "GosNIIAS" Yury Visilter, Director of "Unmanned helicopters" JSC "NCV Mill and Kamov" Vladimir Markin. Acting Vice-Rector for Scientific Work of MAI Yury Ravikovich was the moderator of the event.
Experts presented reports on the key technological directions of the aerospace industry development, modern challenges of aviation science, current state and prospects for the development of space activities, current trends and results in the field of computer vision and machine learning, a single digital aerospace space.
– Modern technological challenges facing the industry require closer involvement of research teams. It is very important to create a new environment of interaction between industry, the service sector and universities. Our conference will allow us to take another step in this direction," Mikhail Pogosyan said.
Mikhail Aslanovich also said that within the framework of the Priority 2030 project, the University's efforts are targeted at future aerospace markets.
– We set the task of becoming the core of the formation of the markets of the future through the creation of new technologies. In this direction, we are developing mathematical modeling, materials and structures made of composites, unmanned aerial vehicles, communication systems," he added.
Achieving ambitious goals is simply impossible without new technological solutions, Kirill Sypalo noted at the plenary session. He emphasized the cooperation of MAI and TsAGI for creating a supersonic passenger aircraft.
– This challenge is very interesting for business, since we are talking about business aviation. Now flights have a range limit of up to 3000-3500 km per day. The possibility of switching to supersonic makes it possible to increase the distance traveled to 7500-8000 kilometers. This suggests the possibility of transatlantic or transoceanic business trips. But before you get to it, you need to implement a whole range of technologies," he said.
So, among the requirements in the field of sonic boom, the expert noted a level equal to the slam of the car door being closed, equal to 65-68 decibels.
Yury Makarov in his speech turned the conversation towards space, noting the leading positions of our country in this area.
– In the field of manned cosmonautics, our dominant positions are connected, first of all, with the technologies of human stay in space in an aggressive environment. In addition, we dominate in the field of space monitoring in the high-orbit sphere. As for space nuclear power, we are now ahead of the whole world by about 5-7 years," Yury Makarov said.
– Here we will rely, first of all, on our industry, where MAI graduates work, and we will attract university science, – he said. – We are currently working intensively with the ministries of the economic block, and with potential customers of the result on projects related to the development of nuclear space energy, the creation of the Russian orbital station and others. There is a place to work with the participation of MAI.
The Week of Aerospace Technologies will continue until November 25. The program includes a competition of scientific and technical works and projects "Youth and the future of aviation and cosmonautics", international conferences "Aviation and Cosmonautics" and "Applied superconductivity and cryogenics in power systems", meetings of sections on the topic of conferences, round tables, as well as a seminar with the leadership of the Russian Science Foundation.
