MAI residents met in the finals of the Voice of MAI contest
On December 8, Moscow Aviation Institute hosted the finals of the Voice of MAI music competition. 10 solo artists and three groups competed for the victory in two nominations.
Valeria Sharapova, a student of the Institute No. 6 “Aerospace”, was recognized the best in the “Vocal Skill” nomination. Evgeny Radchenko from Institute No. 8 “Computer Science and Applied Mathematics” won the second place, and Daria Gavrilova from Institute No. 2 “Aviation, rocket engines and power plants” won the third place.
— I have been singing since early childhood: I studied at a music school and performed in a choir, and after graduation I was just constantly looking for an opportunity to go on stage and improve my skills on my own, — said Valeria Sharapova. — I wanted to choose a track that would not only fully show my vocal abilities at the competition, but also be a little provocative so that it would be memorable for the audience. I like to take on stage images that cannot be tried on in everyday life. So, I sang the song “Tough Lover” from the “Burlesque” movie with Christina Aguilera. The competition was very tough: the guys just have incredible voices. But during the preparation the atmosphere behind the scenes was warm and friendly, and we enjoyed the process to a greater extent.
The winners in the "Musical group" nomination and the winners of the audience award were the students of Institute No. 3 "Control Systems, Informatics and Power Engineering" Nina Nikolaeva and Stepan Melentev — the group "Untitled". The second was the "Breathe Life" group with soloist Valeria Nartsyzova from Institute No. 1 "Aviation Technology". The third place went to the “NotEmptySet” group and its leader Veronika Derbeneva, who represented Institute No.3.
“For the performance, Nina and I chose the song “Tango” from ZOLOTO,” Stepan Melentyev shared. Was the victory a surprise? Oh yes, how it was. Initially, we planned to just deliver the vibe to the audience.
The awards were presented to the winners by MAI Vice-Rector for Youth Policy Sergey Kulikov, Soviet and Russian songwriters Alexander Shaganov and Simon Osiashvili.
