Science Slam: young scientists battle held in MAI
On October 20, a battle of young scientists was held at Moscow Aviation Institute in the format of a popular science show – Science Slam. The winner was a student of the Institute No. 4 "Radioelectronics, Infocommunications and Information Security" Maria Zolotenkova with her speech "How to understand rat conversations and what do rats talk about?". She presented the development of the student design bureau "Signal", which converts ultrasonic waves into the audible range.
Science Slam is an international science popularization project, first implemented in Germany. In 2022, the Science Slam Association Russia, together with the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and Moscow Institute of Steel and Alloys, launched the university league Science Slam, and the first event was held at MAI.
The task of Science Slam participants is to tell the audience about their research in a witty way, and the winner is determined by the audience with loud applause. The prize for winning the competition is boxing gloves.
Five MAI residents became participants of Science Slam. Mikhail Yazykov, a student of Aerospace Institute No. 6, in his speech “Fly or swim? To be or not to be? And why don't rockets sink in the ocean?" spoke about the advantages of the Sea Launch complex.
