800 developers, 7 countries, 34 universities: International Aviahackathon V started at MAI
On October 21, the 5th International Aviahackathon, the largest hackathon in the Russian aviation industry, started at MAI. The event is aimed to bring together talented youth and representatives of the aerospace and IT industries. The organizers are the MAI IT Center and WINNO Moscow, the first innovative international accelerator and hub in Russia.
At the online opening ceremony the participants of the Aviahackathon were greeted by Timofey Golovin, the managing partner of Winno, CEO of Frenchinvest.
Aviahackathon will be held in a mixed format – on the IT floor in the main academic building of the Moscow Aviation Institute and online for participants from other cities and countries. 800 people from seven countries and 21 cities of Russia registered to participate in it. Applications were submitted from 34 universities and about 10 schools, including MAI Pre-University.
Participants will have to solve cases presented by MTS, S7 Technics, Sheremetyevo International Airport, Geoscan Group of Companies. Within three days, 140 teams will solve business cases for the development of an IT product and machine learning models to obtain new innovative solutions to the tasks. The total prize fund is 100,000 rubles. In addition, the winners will receive memorable prizes from VK, Roscosmos and MAI.
– Hackathons are a trend in the global IT industry. They are held by Yandex, Sberbank, Kaspersky Lab and other IT giants regularly. Since 2018, MAI, as one of the leading high-tech universities in our country, has been holding its own unique hackathon - Aviahackathon - with cases from leading global and Russian IT companies, in which hundreds of developers take part, and their ideas are successfully implemented in partner companies. We are very proud that in five years this has become a tradition, and we have grown almost tenfold in terms of the number of participants,” says Maria Bulakina, head of the MAI IT Center.
In addition to solving cases, the participants will have a cultural and entertainment program. So, there will be a full-time excursion to the aircraft hangar of the MAI department 101, where various military, experimental, passenger aviation equipment is presented. Thematic lectures and workshops will also be held for all participants, where the guys will learn about the development process, machine learning technologies, and will also be able to consult with experts and test their solutions in practice.
