Coordinates to the future: the Day of Knowledge was celebrated in MAI
There was a big celebration in MAI devoted to the Day of Knowledge – the 1st of September. It brought together more than 4,000 MAI residents. The outstanding event program, including KVN team performance, communication with famous people, concert with popular artists and lottery with valuable prizes, was held at the university and broadcasted via the official MAI Telegram channel, which became the main media platform of the event.
Celebration on the Main Square
MAI Rector Mikhail Pogosyan, directors of institutes and guests: Alexey Shaposhnikov, Chairman of the Moscow City Duma; Vitaly Grishkin, Director of the Department of Coordination of Educational Organizations of Higher Education of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia; Mikhail Kornienko, MAI graduate, cosmonaut pilot, Hero of the Russian Federation; Mikhail Zakharov, MAI graduate, one of the founders of "Avtoradio"; Alexander Batenyov, MAI graduate, Head of Group IB Development Department; Anastasia Chulkova, MAI graduate, Russian track cyclist, 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, – they all congratulated the students on the Main Square.
– The past academic year has been very busy for all of you. And you all succeeded: you passed the Unified State Exam and are now enrolled to MAI. Students are the living force of the university. Each of you is important for the formation and development of the environment that will allow you to develop in various areas and achieve your goals. Here you will gain valuable knowledge and skills and you will be able to understand what you are going to devote your life to," Mikhail Pogosyan said, addressing the first-year students.
The official part of the event winded up by the acceptance of a solemn oath by the first-year students and the traditional ceremony of transfer of the propeller – the symbol of aviation – from the senior students to the newcomers.
The creative teams of the university performed on the main stage in front of the MAI residents. The highlight of the holiday was the performance of the MAI KVN team, that won second place at the festival "Voicing Kivin" and the 1/8 final of the Major League this summer. At the end of the speech, the captain of the MAI National Team, Alexey Dostanko, solemnly handed over to the rector of MAI the award won by the MAI residents at the "Voicing KiViN 2022" music festival – the "Big Kivin in light-colored" statuette.
Interactive platform and "dialogue on equal terms"
Interactive platforms worked on Cosmonauts Alley, where the guests of the event were able to learn about the career opportunities, about practices at factories and design bureaus, evaluate advanced developments at scientific exhibitions and get acquainted with friendly team of MAI volunteers.
In the "Opportunities for students from partner organizations of MAI" tent students could learn about the activities of the ANO "Russia is a country of opportunities", Rosmolodezh, the Russian Youth Union and ASO. Thus, the representative of the presidential platform "Russia is a country of opportunities", the head of the direction for interaction with the regions Kirill Antonov told the newly minted students about the competitions and projects of the organization.
– Today there are already 26 activities, so everyone, at any age, of all the range of experience and interests, will be able to find something to their liking, – he noted. – I wish each of you success in mastering new knowledge, and hope that all of you strive to become high-class professionals in your field.
Another key event was the meeting of MAI residents with Alexey Shaposhnikov, the Chairman of the Moscow City Duma, that became part of the "Dialogue on Equal Terms" project, who shared his personal experience with the students.
Shoulder straps and concert program
On the territory of the MAI Military Training Center there was also the celebration of the 1st of September. Solemn march and formation of personnel took place here, as well as the assignment of the first officer rank of lieutenant to the graduates.
Interactive events, contests and quiz with valuable prizes were held for MAI students. The winners received an iPad tablet and an Apple Watch from the MAI rector. And near the cosmonaut graffiti, the guest could look in a magic mirror and get a photo as a souvenir.
On the stage on the Main Square, a concert program was held with the participation of invited artists and MAI creative teams, Habib and Hensy were the headliners.
