Opening of the MAI Summer Aerospace School 2022
On the 4th of July Moscow Aviation Institute launched the International Summer Aerospace School-2022 in online format. This educational program unites students of technical universities from all over the world. The summer school program consists of lectures, practical classes, project activities and is aimed at gaining knowledge in the spheres of IT, engineering, design and management. The program of this year includes 2 educational blocks: 3D-school and IT&Design University.
More than 70 students from seven leading Chinese universities applied to participate in the course: Jiaxing University, Beijing University of Aviation and Astronautics, Northwestern Polytechnic University, Zhejiang University, Central South University, Beijing Institute of Technology and Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
Initially, the program meant offline participation, but due to the risk of rapid spread of coronavirus infection, it was successfully transferred to online format three years ago. Students watch lectures on the LMS MAI distance learning platform. Teachers and curators communicate with the participants of the summer school, check their homework and give a feedback on emerging questions with a help of chats
For the first time, the annual short-term program of additional education for international students was launched at MAI in 2018. The first International Aerospace School was dedicated to aircraft modeling and product lifecycle management. In the following years, schools on the topics of additive technologies in the aerospace industry, unmanned aerial vehicles, 3D design and printing were held. This year's program has been greatly improved thanks to the experience of the past schools. The organizers have compiled a schedule, equally filling it with educational program and entertainment activities.
For fife consecutive years the summer school has been held under the guidance of the leading specialist of the Directorate of Advanced Scientific Programs, engineer and MAI teacher Alexander Khvan.
According to Alexander’s words: "For the first time we are experimenting with physical education classes in the online format in the style of Entertainment Education during the IT&Design University program. Between classes we will present lessons on marathon running, basketball and complex functional training to the participants of the summer school. The invited speakers and coaches are true professionals in their field. I personally took on the role of a diligent student and took part in all sports events to show an example to other directors of Russian universities summer schools. I can say for sure that it turned out to be original, funny and very informative for independent outdoor training. This is needed by engineers and IT specialists, whose professions are directly related to sitting lifestyle."
The main purpose of the program is to popularize technical education in Russia among other countries. The MAI Summer School is a kind of "demo" for international students before entering the university. During our school students also undergo a career guidance in the direction they are interested in. In addition to that, theu get acquainted with the structure of Russian educational system. This allows them to clearly understand whether MAI is suitable for them to continue education.
