MAI pre-university student from Serbia won the 1st prize in the poetry competition
Trifunovic Doroteja, MAI pre-university student from Serbia, won the 1st prize in the poetry competition for foreign and foundation program students. The competition organized by Moscow Polytechnic University took place on June 10 and was dedicated to the Day of Russia. The students read poems on the theme “My Soul is Russia".
Dorothea has chosen Alexander Pushkin's poem "To the slanderers of Russia" for her performance.
– I have chosen Alexander Pushkin because he is the greatest poet – says Dorothea. – Nobody has been writing such strong poems about Russia as he has. In this poem his feelings about Russia are vividly expressed. He talks about the strength of Russia, its history and its heroic people. The first time I read this poem, I was enchanted by it. I wanted to read it in a way that made everyone else feel it. I think I succeeded.
Dorothea came to Russia less than a year ago, she got a scholarship by the Government of the Russian Federation to study for a bachelor's degree at Institute No. 4 "Radio Electronics and Infocommunications" with prior learning of the Russian language.
– I have never studied Russian before. In the beginning, it was very difficult, but I did my best, as the language is the basis of everything. I lacked practice, because before we studied online. But when I came to Moscow, I started to speak Russian a lot. At the early stages it was challenging for me to get used to Moscow, but it is a big, beautiful city with many interesting places, and you can meet great people not only from all over Russia, but also from all over the world. It is a wonderful adventure that is just beginning.
