MAI at HeliRussia-2022: 2nd Day, business program
The second day of the HeliRussia-2022, where the international achievements of the entire range of products and services of the helicopter industry are presented, is now over. The exhibition runs for three days, from May 19 to May 21. Moscow Aviation Institute participates in both business and exhibition programs.
On the second day of the event, MAI experts took part in two conferences.
Maxim Kalyagin, MAI "Unmanned Aerial Vehicles" Center Deputy Director, spoke at the "UAV regional priorities. Cases and prospects" conference. He told the audience about the system of flaw detection of industrial facilities via drones based on computer vision developed at the center jointly with the Department 806 "Computational Mathematics and Programming", MAI IT Center and Phygitalism company. The system allows to detect cracks, swellings, fistulas, corrosion foci and more.
MAI experts were engaged in the creation of the unmanned aerial vehicle, development of autonomous navigation algorithms and the program that is able to detect defects on the images that are taken by the device. One of the unique features of the project is the creation of its own synthetic data generator, which reduces the process of information research for neural network training significantly. The system is currently undergoing trial operation.
At the "Aerial Firefighters" conference, the Chief Designer of the SKB-602 MAI Dmitry Dyakonov told about the unmanned helicopter developed by the student design bureau. Its take-off weight is 150 kg and the device might be used for various purposes. One of the modifications of the helicopter is designed for firefighting in conditions of high-rise urban development. The fire extinguishing equipment installed on to is also developed by MAI.
