Moscow Aviation Institute is 92 years
MAI kept pace with our science and industry throughout all these years. The university immediately played the first role in Russian aircraft industry right after its foundation in 1930. Since the very first years of its work, the design bureaus appeared in it: aircraft design bureau and engine design bureau, as well as the helicopter design bureau, that was the very first one in our country. MAI design bureaus provided and nowadays they continue to provide the scientific and technical elite of the country with talented and dedicated engineers and designers.
These 92 years gave the world more than 180 thousand graduates. And these are not only worldwide famous scientists and designers. The legendary MAI atmosphere, its spirit contributed to the versatile formation of the young people, supporting their aspirations and revealing their talents.
Many artists and writers, generals and Olympic champions, factory managers and institute leaders, pilots and cosmonauts began the path to their glory from the MAI student's desk. Among them there are the educator Sergey Kapitsa, intelligence officer Vitaly Netyksa, satirist Mikhail Zadornov, pilot Sergey Bogdan, writer Vadim Panov, director Elem Klimov, Prime Minister of Belarus Alexey Kobyakov, Olympic champion Lyudmila Titova, the best coach in the world according to the IOC — Anatoly Yevtushenko.
Over the past year, Moscow Aviation Institute has confirmed its status of one of theleading universities of the country by becoming the member of the Priority 2030 program. Welaunched new programs, strengthened partnership with the industry, and MAI studentsachieved great success in science, sports, creativity and volunteering.
