MAI residents became champions of the “Battle for Science” e-sports tournament
The team of Moscow Aviation Institute “Taiga Tea” became the winner of the “Battle for Science”, the largest international student cybersport tournament in the history of Russia. The tournament was organized by the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and became one of the final events of the Year of Science and Technology.
They took the League of Legends discipline. “Taiga Tea” team met the St. Petersburg Polytechnic University named after Peter the Great team, and won 3:2.“This is the largest League of Legends tournament over the past few years, and the victory is a great honor for us, – said Ivan Lavrentiev, the captain of the “Taiga Tea” team, student of the Institute No. 4“ Radio Electronics, Communications and Information Security ”of Moscow Aviation Institute. – In the final we beat the SPbPU team for the third time in the tournament, but it was not easy: they are strong rivals.
Other team members are: Ilya Samuilov (Institute No. 3 "Control Systems, Informatics and Power Engineering"), Dmitry Pimenov (Institute No. 5 "Engineering Economics and Humanities"), Orozbay Tairzhanov (Institute No. 6 "Aerospace").In the final, the Dota 2 champions were determined, the cybersportsmen from TSU named after I.Derzhavin. The prize fund of the tournament was 2 million rubles: 1 million for each discipline. The competition was carried out at the Yota Arena, Moscow. As the Minister of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation Valery Falkov noted at the opening of the final games, the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia will continue to support the development of e-sports in the country.
