MAI is the participant of the Eurasian Aerospace Congress business program
On the 19th of July, the Fourth Eurasian Aerospace Congress was held in Moscow, it opened the business program of the International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2021. Moscow Aviation Institute became one of the participants of the congress.
Several topical conferences and business meetings were held, including the round table dedicated to the work of the “Supersonic” World-Class Research Center (WCRC), the consortium of which includes Moscow Aviation Institute. Mikhail Pogosyan, the Rector of MAI, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, made a speech at the round table meeting “WCRC “Supersonic” titled “Challenges of Supersonic Flight”.– At MAKS-2021 we will showcase the concept of the cockpit of a supersonic commercial aircraft with one pilot. The synthetic vision system and a number of other technologies will be demonstrated. I think that our joint work within the WCRC will allow integrating this development into projects and tasks that will be implemented in the future,” – Mikhail Pogosyan noted in his speech. – Such projects are a good basis for training highly-demanded experts. Today the market requires people who not only have broad basic knowledge, but also are as well capable of implementing specific tasks. The supersonic project generates similar problems in large numbers. I hope that today's conference and the work we are doing together as part of the WCRC will allow us to reach a qualitatively new level.
The main meeting was attended by the Director General of the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky, head of the WCRC “Supersonic”, Corresponding Member of the Russian Academy of Sciences Kirill Sypalo; Minister Counselor, Head of the Science and Technology Department of the Delegation of the European Union to the Russian Federation Laurent Bochereau; Scientific Director of the Perm Federal Research Center of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Director of the Institute of Continuous Media Mechanics of the Ural Branch of the Russian Academy of Sciences, Head of the Laboratory “Strength and Intelligent Structures” of the National Center for Medical Sciences “Supersonic”, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Valery Matveenko, General Director of the FAU “Central Institute of Aviation Motors named after P.I. Baranov” Mikhail Gordin. The event was moderated by Sergey Chernyshev, scientific director of FSUE TsAGI.
During the second part of the round table, reports were made by the heads of five laboratories created on the basis of the WCRC “Supersonic” consortium: Aerodynamics and Conceptual Design of SST with Low Sound Acoustic Impact, Aeroacoustics and Vibrations, Strength and Intelligent Designs, Gas Dynamics and Power installation”, “Artificial Intelligence and Flight Safety”. The results of the laboratory No. 5 “Artificial Intelligence and Flight Safety” were presented by its head, professor, doctor of technical sciences, head of MAI department 106 “Dynamics and Flight Control of Manned Aircraft” Alexander Efremov. It is also worth mentioning that Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after N.E. Zhukovsky, State Research Institute of Aviation Systems and Moscow State University named after M.V. Lomonosov also participate actively in the work of the Laboratory 5. MAI performs work in four of the five laboratories of the consortium. Also as part of the congress, the conference “Power Plants for Aircraft at the Turn of 2050 Development Prospects” was held. The vice-rector for scientific affairs of Moscow Aviation Institute Yury Ravikovich spoke at the event.
