ICASSE 2021 International Science and Technology Conference started in MAI
On July 14, MAI hosted the opening of the V International Conference on Aerospace System Science and Engineering (ICASSE 2021), the event is conducted by Moscow Aviation Institute together with Shanghai Jiao Tong University. This year it is online.
ICASSE is a conference dedicated to modern research and aerospace development. It brings together aeronautic experts and is aimed at the experience exchange and establishment of new mutually beneficial contacts. This jubilee year of the conference, the supersonic commercial aircraft creation and development program became its main topic, and MAI participates in the program as the member of "Supersonic", the World-class Scientific Center.
Mikhail Pogosyan, the rector of Moscow Aviation Institute, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, addressed the participants with welcome speech during the opening ceremony:
– Aerospace research fuels the growth of the country’s industrial potential and stimulates the development of science and culture. The aerospace industry, being one of the basics, is a very knowledge-intensive and high-tech area. Development forecasts show that this trend is to intensify in future, – noted Mikhail Pogosyan. – Nowadays, the development of the aerospace industry is impossible without mathematical modeling, nanocomposite materials, artificial intelligence, cybercrime defenses, information communications and virtual reality technology. Supersonic technology and the application of environmentally friendly fuels will also determine the competitiveness of the industry. The successful implementation of the achievements in the abovementioned areas requires the transformation of traditional approaches in aerospace research: we need to look forward and build up development potential, and therefore the role of the University is increasing. Today the University is not only a place to study at, it is a point of science, education and business integration. It works closely with industry institutions and businesses, making young people the main asset.
Yury Ravikovich, Professor, MAI Vice-rector for scientific affairs and Sergey Chernyshev, TsAGI Scientific Director, Deputy General Director of the Research Center “Institute named after Zhukovsky” on coordination of international cooperation and interaction with international organizations, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences, were the key speakers of the first day of the conference.
Students of Moscow Aviation Institute and Shanghai Jiao Tong University joint degree program, aimed at forming a personnel reserve for the Russian-Chinese project of a wide-body long-range aircraft, took part in the event. The conference brought together more than a hundred scientists, engineers and Candidates of Science from all over the globe.
Presentations in sections “Aircraft and Rocket Engine Research”, “General Design and Mathematical Modelling", “Dynamics of Flight of Aircraft” were made during the first day of the conference.
During the following two days of the conference reports covering the issues of space exploration; aircraft structures design of new materials, including composite materials, as well as studies of various coatings; avionics integration; product life cycle, are to be presented.
The materials will be published in English in Lecture Notes in Electrical Engineering, indexed in the Scopus database, The best articles will be recommended for publication in Aerospace Systems Journal, which is also indexed in the Scopus database.
Detailed information and participation conditions are posted at the conference website.
