HeliRussia-2021, the International Helicopter Industry Exhibition, has been launched in Moscow on 20 May. For three days, 20-22 May, helicopter industry companies demonstrated their latest achievements across the entire range of products and services at the Crocus Expo International Exhibition Centre. The Moscow Aviation Institute is taking part in the business and exhibition program of the event.MAI displays its developmentsTraditionally, MAI Department 102 for Helicopter Design demonstrated its developments at the exhibition. Visitors of the MAI stand saw three blown-up models of vertical take-off and landing rotorcraft, designed for studies of their performance in the MAI T-1 wind tunnel. These included a variant model of the Mi-8/Mi-17 family of helicopters with a variety of civil and military load suspension options, a Project ZERO convertible aircraft, manufactured with extensive use of additive manufacturing technology at tMAI resource centres, and a modular Mi-171A3 offshore helicopter, which will be shown at the MAKS-2021 air show for the first time. The stand also included unmanned aerial vehicles: Korshun-2 cargo hexacopter designed by Andrei Kolpakov, a graduate student of the MAI; Pathfinder vehicle from the MAI Drone School, designed to search for people lost in the forest; and a vertical take-off and landing drone from the MAI Student Design Bureau of Aviation Modelling. The Research Department of Department 301 for Automated and Intelligent Control Systems, exhibited a flight simulator designed and assembled by students of the MAI under the supervision of Head of the Research and Development Department 301 Vladimir Chemodanov. The simulator allows creating and testing mathematical models of aircraft: from an aeroplane or helicopter to an airship. It is also possible to use the stand to test various algorithms in control systems.Furthermore, the units of a crashworthy helicopter fuel system, a unique technology of interactive three-dimensional graphics developed by the staff of the Flight Rigs and Pilot Aircraft Research Laboratory were displayed at HeliRussia. Participation in the business programme On the first day of HeliRussia-2021, the conference "Historical memory of the Great Patriotic War achievements" and foresight-session "Historical Succession of Generations" were held.
