MAI runs the first International Conference on Space Systems

    On 27 April 2021, Moscow Aviation Institute held the first International Conference "Space Systems" online on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of the first human spaceflight. It opened the series of events of the 20th International Conference "Aviation and Cosmonautics".

    The conference 'Space Systems' included the plenary session and three break-out sessions on the following topics: 'Trends in the Development of Small Spacecraft: Economics and Services of Spacecraft and their Constellations'; 'Design and Production of Spacecraft'; 'Launch, Control and Exploitation of Spacecraft'. A total of about 100 people took part in the event.

    The plenary session included speeches by Rector of the MAI and Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences Mikhail Pogosyan and Russian experts of the rocket and space industry: Aleksandr Vitalievich Kuzovnikov, Deputy General Designer for Space Systems Development, General Design and Spacecraft Control of JSC ISS, Oleg Leonidovich Khimochko, First Deputy General Director of JSC Gonets Satellite System, Maxim Vladimirovich Cheremisin, General Director of KosmoLab LLC, Viktor Sergeevich Savelyev, Deputy Director of Perspective Programs and Project Sphere, Roscosmos State Corporation.

    As Mikhail Pogosyan stressed in his speech, the conference dedicated to space systems is an important stage for further development of research in this area, including that conducted at the Moscow Aviation Institute.

    "The space services market is actively developing today. Together with launch services and satellite production, various services related to information processing and scientific research are developing. New areas emerge, such as space tourism, mining, energy in space. All this shows that the prospects for the development of various segments of the space market are great, and we all have to concentrate our efforts on the efficient use of emerging opportunities", said Rector of the MAI.

    Within the framework of the sections, there were reports made by specialists from leading industry companies, universities and scientific organisations, such as S.P. Korolev RSC Energia, VNIIEM Corporation, N.N. Krasov Institute of Mathematics and Mechanics of the Ural State Technical University. N.N. Krasovsky UB RAS, Siberian State University of Science and Technology named after Academician M.F. Reshetnev, MAI, BSTU "VOENMEKH".

     This event is the first in a series of online conferences as part of the International Conference "Aviation and Cosmonautics. On May 11, applications will be accepted for the International Conference on "Mathematical Modelling" which is planned to be held in July 2021.
