MAI participates in conference on computer vision and pattern recognition
On 18 March, the Centre for Mathematical Modelling of the Moscow Aviation Institute took part in the III All-Russian Scientific and Technical Conference "State and prospects of development of modern science in the field of technical vision and pattern recognition". The event was organised by the Military Innovation Technopolis ERA and was held remotely.Andrey Kataev, head of Laboratory No. 1 of R&D 101, presented the report on the topic: "Adaptive Image Segmentation for Solving Problems of Classification".
"In computer vision, segmentation is the process of dividing a digital image into several segments. Its purpose is to simplify or change the representation of an image. Existing methods are narrowly focused, requiring complex training and tuning to the specific task at hand. Therefore, we have developed a segmentation method capable of working on a small training sample of 10-15 examples. It consists of the extraction of object edges based on an image representation in the form of various maps," noted Andrey.
The aim of the conference is to analyse the current condition and prospects of development of modern science in the field of technical vision and pattern recognition in the interests of development and implementation of scientific and technical achievements to create promising models of weapons, military and special equipment, and advanced defence technologies.
