MAI launched series of "Aviation and Cosmonautics" online conferences
On November 10, the Moscow Aviation Institute gathered scientists, industry representatives and foreign experts in the field of development, certification and production of composites at the 1st international online conference "Composite materials and structures". This opened a series of events within the framework of the 19th International conference "Aviation and Cosmonautics".
Today MAI takes active part in various comprehensive programs for the development and application of structures made of composite materials, as well as implements programs of higher and additional professional education in this field. The University operates composite materials laboratory and creates competence center in the field of integrated design and certification of composite structures.
The conference "Composite materials and structures" consisted of a plenary session and three breakout sessions on the following topics: "Polymer composite materials (PCM) for aircraft construction, construction and energy, methods of research and testing of PCM", "Methods of design, calculation and optimization of PCM structures", "Promising technologies for PCM processing for manufacturing structures based on them". The event was held in Russian and English.
At the plenary session the presentations were made by the Rector of the Moscow Aviation Institute Mikhail Pogosyan, Professor Qu Shaoxing from Zhejiang University (China), Umatex Project Manager Anton Shumakov, Chief Expert of the JSC AeroComposite design department Viktor Vilentsev.
As part of the sessions, experts from leading industry companies, such as UEC-Aviadvigatel JSC, the Central Aerohydrodynamic Institute named after Professor N.E. Zhukovsky, the Central research Institute of special engineering, Siemens Digital Industries Software, and others made presentations. The University community was represented by speakers from major Russian and foreign universities, including Shanghai Jiao Tong transport University and Moscow state University. Lomonosov, Samara University, Perm National Research Polytechnic University. In total, more than 60 speakers took part in the conference, and the total number of participants exceeded 100 people.
The conference "Composite materials and structures" was held for the first time, but it immediately set high level of invited experts and topics discussed. This gives every reason to believe that the conference will become an annual significant scientific event in the field of materials science, structural design, strength calculation and technological preparation of production, which will help create a unified environment for representatives of the scientific community, universities, industry enterprises and identify new areas of work that meet the challenges of our time. Thus, the Moscow aviation Institute will be a platform for forming and discussing comprehensive agenda in the field of composite materials.
The program of the MAI online conferences will be continued by "Mathematical modeling" (November 17) and "Unmanned aerial vehicles" (November 24).
