October 28, 2019
From October 5 to 6, in the Spanish city of Valladolid the final stage of the XXVIII Valladolid International Open World Cup in the class of F-2D “Air Fight” was held. Athletes of Moscow Aviation Institute, who participated in the competition, took honorable first places. The leader in the competition among the main group was Igor Trifonov, Honored Master of Sports, three-time world champion, head of the student aeromodelling design bureau at the Department 106 “Dynamics and Flight Control of Manned Aircraft.”The first place among juniors was taken by first-year student of the Institute No. 4 "Radioelectronics, Infocommunication and Information Security" of Moscow Aviation Institute, Ramil Gareev. Thus, the young candidate for master of sports added to his list of achievements with another victory (in the previous season he became the silver medalist of the world championship in aeromodelling). It is worth noting that "Air Fight" is the most spectacular class in aeromodelling and the most popular in Russia. The battle of rivals lasts four minutes. The participant receives points for a raid, for a clean landing in a special zone, for an effective attack of the enemy. But the main task is to cut off the enemy’s tape with the propeller, which is attached to the tail of the aircraft. Pilots have to learn how to maneuver for a long time - during a battle, a model can easily be shot down, because the maximum flight speed is 170 km/h.
