MAI and AVIC FAI: Plans for Cooperation
From October 10 to 14, a delegation of Chinese engineers from First Aviation Institute, located in Xi'an (China), gave MAI an official visit.
First Aviation Institute (FAI) is a member company of Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), a Chinese state-owned aerospace company. In November 2018, specialists from AVIC FAI attended a refresher course on aerodynamic and multidisciplinary optimization at Moscow Aviation Institute.
The goal of current visit was to negotiate further development of cooperation. The Chinese delegation included 8 design engineers, specialists in aerodynamics and flight dynamics. MAI was represented by Directorate of Advanced Scientific Programs with the participation of specialists from Department 105 “Aerodynamics of Aircraft", Department 106 “Flight Dynamics and Aircraft Motion Control” and Research Department - 1.
The parties held bilateral negotiations. As Natalia Odintsova, head of MAI Research Department - 1, noted, “negotiations were quite positive, we outlined several topics that we want to think through in the future in order to conclude new contracts.”
“Development of cooperation is supposed both, on the educational and scientific basis,” added Irina Polovina, leading specialist of the Directorate of Advanced Scientific Programs.
The visit of Chinese delegation was also marked a tour MAI research laboratory, where engineers were shown wind tunnel T-1 MAI and test section.
