MAI at MAKS: International Aviation and Space Salon Has Been Launched in Zhukovsky

August 28, 2019

On August 27, the XIV International Aviation and Space Salon MAKS-2019 began its work in Zhukovsky. This year, Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) is presented at once at six venues of the Air Show. The diverse MAI program at MAKS is relevant both for specialists in the aerospace industry, and for everyone who is interested in modern technology. The university participates in scientific and business programs, organizes a program of events for Students’ Day on August 30, and other activities for all participants of MAKS-2019.

MAI main exhibition area at MAKS is presented in Pavilion D2. Here, the university demonstrates its developments in a number of relevant areas of the aerospace industry. For example, guests of MAI stand can get acquainted with an innovative development to ensure the safety of aircraft, try their hand at flying an airplane simulator, which uses a unique cockpit display technology. Also, guests of MAI stand in Pavilion D2 are met by MARC robot (MAI Automated Robot Consultant), who helps visitors with navigation at MAKS-2019.

In the pavilion C3 FUTURE HUB MAI is presented in the section "University Science" and at the international festival of scientific and technical creativity "Ot Vinta!” (From the Screw!). It demonstrates the latest developments of talented young people who study at Moscow Aviation Institute.

In pavilion C1, where the United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) is located, the Student Engineering Center is presented. The joint exposition of MAI, UAC and Shanghai Jiao Tong University (SJTU) demonstrates the work within the framework of the Russian-Chinese project of wide-body long-range aircraft CR939. In 2017, MAI together with SJTU launched targeted master's degree programs with the aim of creating a personnel reserve for the Russian-Chinese project. Visitors to the Air Show will be able to find out the details of the MAI-SJTU program’s three majors: “Design of Aircraft Structures from Polymer Composite Materials”, “Product Lifecycle Management Technologies for the Design of Modern Aircraft” and “Propulsion Engineering”.

At the static aircraft exposition of MAKS-2019 aircraft, MAI-411 aircraft developed by MAI Special Design Bureau of Experimental Aircraft Engineering is presented, which also takes part in the flight program of the Air Show. At the platform of Federation of Aircraft Modeling, demonstration flights of MAI Aircraft Modeling Club are shown.

On the opening day, MAKS-2019 was visited by President of Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Turkey Recep Tayyip Erdogan. They greeted the participants and guests of the Salon, examined the exposition and get acquainted with samples of aircraft, discussed current issues of cooperation, including in the aerospace industry.

Then, two more days of MAKS-2019 are traditionally dedicated to the business program: MAI holds meetings with Russian and foreign partners, establishes new contacts and strengthens existing agreements.

From Friday (August 30), the days of mass visits to MAKS-2019 begin. For more information about the development and program of university events at the Air Show, see our website, in the special section “Events”, as well as in all social networks by the tag #MAIatMAKS.
