Students of MAI Celebrated the Cosmonautics Day

On April 12, 2019, the Cosmonautics Day was celebrated in Russia, the day, when Yuri Gagarin became the first human in space. On MAI campus, the celebrations were held all the day.   Students of Moscow Aviation Institute held a colorful flash mob, dedicated to one of the main holidays for each who involved in space sciences. The event was prepared by the students union of MAI. Students were dancing to space songs, took photos with astronuat and had fun. Also today, an interuniversity scientific conference devoted to the Cosmonautics Day "The Path to the Stars Begins on Earth" was held at MAI. The conference began with a demonstration of a short film about space pilots who graduated from MAI, after which  Rector of MAI Mikhail Pogosian spoke to the conference participants.The legendary Hero of the Soviet Union, a test pilot, a graduate of Moscow Aviation Institute Gurgen Karapetyan also took part in the conference. In the finale of the official part, a touching musical number was presented: the head of MAI chamber choir, Dmitry Vlasenko, performed the favorite song of all cosmonauts “Grass at Home”.“We are space enthusiasts, we are like space nerds. Yuri Gagarin is for us an inspiration because he is the first man in space. Today we of course decided to celebrate this event and join the conference. We study Russian language, so we understand all information about life of Yuri Gagarin and space. We really  like it," - said Sandesh Patil, the Bachelor's degree student from India.
