MAI-SJTU students celebrated the end of the third semester
On December 21, 2018, students of MAI – SJTU Master’s degree program celebrated the end of the of the third semester of their study.
The joint institute between Moscow Aviation Institute (National Research University) and Shanghai Jiao Tong University was launched in 2017. Students of the first intake have spent two semesters of study in China and arrived at MAI for the second and final year of their education in September 2018. On the eve of the New Year, they summed up the results of their work and accepted congratulations from Rector of MAI Mikhail Pogosian.
Students of all three educational directions “Design of Composite Structures”, “Engine Design” and “PLM-technologies” presented the topics of their graduation thesis, relevance of chosen theme and the status of work on it. One of the conditions for choosing the theme of student work is the relevant in the context of developing the aircraft constructions: Aeroacoustic Optimization Design for Turbofun Engine Bypass Duct Based on Adjoint Method”, “Design and Modeling of Fretting on Fan Blades Interlocks”, “Optimization of Layout and Design of Vibrants of a Vertical Stabilizer Principal Construction”, etc.
After the presentations of graduation thesis topics, Rector of MAI Mikhail Pogosian congratulated MAI – SJTU students on the end of semester in MAI and the upcoming New Year: “You made great job during the first semester in MAI, and I hope you enjoy to study in our university. I hope this knowledge, this studies and practical experience that you have received from our teachers and professors were excellent for you and you will use this information during your proposal and thesis work. Also, I would like to congratulate you on the upcoming New Year. The educational process is only effective when everyone sees their future target trajectory. I wish you to achieve your individual goals, which is equally important and useful in life.”
Rector also gave young engineers a good advice for future career: “Today, both the aircraft project and the engine project are being actively developed by Russian-Chinese partners. Such joint work requires a large number of modern specialists who are well aware of the current trends in the management of the product's life cycle, composite structures, aircraft systems, and aircraft engines. I think that, in parallel with your studies, we are creating an environment that will be interested in such specialists. It is always better to show yourself in new projects, because traditional one tends to be more conservative. New projects are a good start for young people.”
Rector solemnly handed students presents and invited to the festive concert in honor of the end of the year, which was held in the Cultural Palace of MAI. After the concert program, MAI – SJTU students took part in a New Year's photo session with Rector and sang "Moscow Nights" for all guests of the event.
“The semester was really great. We have wise professors and friendly classmates here at MAI. I have learned a lot. Now we have midterm exams, and then long holidays. I plan to celebrate New Year on the Red Square with my friends, and then to visit St. Petersburg and Lake Baikal”, - said Wang Xuyang, MAI–SJTU students with a major in “Engine Design”.
We wish all of you good luck and best wishes in the New Year!
