Entry to Russia for International Students
By the Order of the Russian Government dated March 16, 2020 No. 635-r (revised on March 16, 2021), international students, postgraduates, and trainees of pre-university departments are allowed to return to Russia to resume their studies.
Be aware that clearance is granted only to students from countries deemed to have a safe epidemiological environment by the Federal Service for Surveillance on Consumer Rights Protection and Human Wellbeing (the information is current as of August 10, 2021, check for updates):

Before arriving in Russia
1. Notify the MAI International Department 14 days before your arrival; send a copy of your ticket specifying the port of entry and visa.

When booking your tickets, please be aware that all university offices are open strictly Monday through Friday from 9AM to 5PM (with a break from 1PM to 2 PM).
2. Receive a permit to enter Russia from an MAI representative.
3. Prepare the necessary medical documentation*:
-
chest photofluorograph with no signs of tuberculosis;
-
medical clearance from a dermatologist/venerologist for living in a dormitory (with negative bacterioscopy for STDs and negative blood tests for syphilis and HIV);
-
vaccination certificate with dates of vaccinations against diphtheria, whooping cough, tetanus, measles, rubella, mumps, hepatitis B, and tuberculosis.
4. Get a PCR test for COVID-19 in your country no earlier than 3 days before arriving in Russia. The results certificate must be in English or Russian.
5. Book a hotel room for 1-3 days until you are provided with dormitory accomodation.
After arriving in Russia
1. Get a PCR test for COVID-19 in Moscow. The test can be done at the airport upon arrival or in a laboratory in Moscow.

2. Get vaccinated against COVID-19.
In accordance with recommendations of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Russia, on-campus studies will be accessible only to students having a certificate of vaccination against the novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) with a vaccine that has passed state registration in the Russian Federation. 3. Visit the MAI clinic with your negative PCR test results and vaccination certificate to get a permit for dormitory accommodation.

4. Visit the MAI International Department to submit the documents for migration registration and arranging a health insurance (the cost is 10 000 rubles).
Required documents: copies of all passport pages (can be scanned at the University), migration card.

5. Go to the MAI dormitory with the accommodation permit.

If you are experiencing flu-like symptoms during self-isolation (high body temperature, sore throat, runny nose, cough), you need to immediately contact the University and call a doctor.
