MAI visited Vietnam in the framework of the project “Universities of Russia”
In the framework of the 10th phase of the long-term project “Universities of Russia”, MAI delegation visited Vietnam. The leader of the delegation was Ms. Olga Pogosian – Head of International Department, assisted by the international projects manager Mr. Alexander Novikov. The event took place in September 17-22, 2018.
The project “Universities of Russia”, was established in 2014 by Federal Agency for the Commonwealth of Independent States Affairs, Compatriots Living Abroad, and International Humanitarian Cooperation (Rossotrudichestvo) . Its objective is to popularize Russian education in Vietnam and to establish partnerships with Vietnamese universities and educational organizations. This was the first time MAI representatives attended the event within the initiative.
The goals of MAI delegation were to create links with Russian Center of Science and Culture in Hanoi (RCSC ), get acquainted with Vietnamese universities and find out the possibilities to create joint educational projects. Apart from MAI there were 6 Russian universities that took part in the project's events.
The program of visit was very rich. On the first day Russian Universities made presentations during the press conference "Education in Russia - the launch of a successful future" for representatives of Vietnamese universities and Vietnamese schools students. Olga Pogosian spoke on the presentation about MAI and gave detailed information on training programs in Russian and English medium, highlighted the educational projects with foreign partners, which raised great interest among Vietnamese schoolchildren.
At the same day work meetings with the representatives of the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam were held, wh ere the parties exchanged proposals on the further development of inter-university relations between Russia and Vietnam.
The following days were dedicated to higher and secondary educational institutions of Vietnam. MAI delegation visited key schools named after Nguyen Chi and Chiang Fu; Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Hanoi University; Hanoi University of Science and Technology; University of Transport and Communications; Vietnam Atomic Energy Institute under the Ministry of Science and Technology of Vietnam.
During these meetings, the delegates discussed the prospects for holding various joint scientific events. Specific attention was paid to the implementation of student exchange programs and interuniversity cooperation in general.
“The visit was intended to improve the status of MAI brand on the Vietnamese education market. It worth mentioning that from the year 2003, MAI had partnership with only one University in Vietnam, and we decided that now the time to broaden our cooperation to further educational institutions has come. This visit was intended specifically for the purpose of establishing new cooperation areas with the leading educational institutions of Vietnam. We see the prospects for successful cooperation with Vietnam National University in Hanoi – one of the leading in the country. The leadership of the University sees the possibility of establishing new Aerospace School as one of the departments”, – commented Alexander Novikov, the international projects manager commented on.
The Russian Federation gives educational grants to Vietnamese students to study at Russian universities. At secondary schools in Vietnam students learn Russian as a second language and interuniversity cooperation between two countries is a logical consequence of the basic school education.
