What will
you learn

Join the unique educational program and discover the exciting world of polymer composites and advanced additive technologies! This program will provide you with a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in innovative materials and modern production methods.

Career Opportunities: this is not just a course — it is the key to the future in engineering, materials science, design and other related industries. Gain valuable experience and knowledge that will become your competitive advantage!

Polymer composites have high strength, lightness, as well as good thermal and sound insulation properties, which makes them ideal for use in various industries, including aviation, automotive and construction. In the first part of our summer school, on the basis of MAI, we will introduce you to the main types of binders and fillers that are used in composite materials, as well as talk about their advantages and disadvantages. The program of the first module will be full of interactive classes, laboratory workshops and visits to a real production facility where aircraft structures are made from PCM.

In the second module, based on SPbPU, you will get acquainted with additive manufacturing, which is increasingly used in a variety of industries. In this module, you will learn about the production methods and characteristics of powder materials, get acquainted with various additive manufacturing technologies, including the technology of electric arc growing of metal parts from wire. One of the most serious problems in the field of additive technologies is the problem of connecting the obtained parts into a single, integral structure. This compound must meet a large number of requirements, including the preservation of the unique microstructure and properties obtained during cultivation. To solve these problems, methods of joining materials in the solid phase are mainly used, in particular, friction welding with mixing, which we will definitely introduce you to.
